Woking 1-4 Gloucester by Harry Halfmatch

Gloucester began in confident fashion in this GRMT game and made all the running in the first period.

The visitors seem to save their best game for when they play Woking and today was no exception. Randall and Ansermoz combined well down the right flank on multiple occasions setting up half chances for striker Harris but the keeper saved on both occasions.

Harris did manage to give the visitors the lead moments later however following a corner, pouncing on the ball to stab home after a rebound off the ‘keeper. Harris doubled the lead minutes later after brilliant work by Laverton, the combative midfielder timed his challenge well to win the ball on the halfway line and then played a pin point pass inside the defender for Randall to run onto and cross first time to the waiting striker to tap in.

Laverton and Randall then combined again to set up Ansermoz for the third as Gloucester were in complete control of the game.

Woking were much more competitive after half time and put pressure on the Gloucester backline which up to that point had consisted entirely of the impressive Limbrick on his own.

Sargeant twice saved well, but the home side clawed a goal back when La Roche was left unmarked on the edge of the area and given time and space to slam the ball home.

Taylor restored the three-goal advantage with a fantastic breakaway from his own penalty area, running the length of the pitch with the ball at his feet and neatly slotting it past the outcoming ‘keeper.

Williamson and Fortey were now providing all the opportunities down the left flank and both players went close themselves, Williamson from long range and Fortey hitting the post at the end of a mazy run as Gloucester ran out winners by four goals to one.

Gloucester: Sargeant; Limbrick, Williamson, Randall, Fortey, Laverton, Ansermoz, Taylor, Harris, Hayes.
