Gloucester B 6-0 Bath by Taite Flately

Gloucester B welcomed near neighbours Bath to Longlevens for a representative fixture, the home side setting the tempo from the off.

Randall's early turn and shot shaved the crossbar, but it didn’t take long for Gloucester to make their early superiority count, Harris turning in a third minute opener from an Ansermoz corner.

Harris added a second shortly afterwards, Taylor chasing a through ball into the area and Harris gratefully accepting the opportunity to net.

Bath came into the game after that and a fairly even contest ensued. The home side were forced to resort to long range efforts from Taylor and Hayes, while Bath played their best football of the game and worked 'keeper Sargeant on a couple of occasions, but the city number one was more than equal to each of them.

In a solid Gloucester display, Limbrick and Williamson were at their defensive best and made a number of timely pre-interval interceptions to deny the visitors any further opportunities.

Gloucester reasserted their dominance in the second half and Hayes finally managed to bag his first goal of the season. Capitalising on Randall's initial run and shot, the city captain fired low into the goal and quite rightly celebrated enthusiastically afterwards.

With Laverton again covering every blade of grass in midfield, Gloucester continued to create chances. Randall netted the hosts’ fourth and Harris capped a fine goal scoring display by nabbing the final two goals giving him four in the game. Harris Senior is to be asked to be absent as much as possible in future, as his son appears to score freely whenever he’s not there.

A very good team display from all concerned, the Yellows running out six-nil victors.

Gloucester: Sargeant; Ansermoz, Limbrick, Williamson; Randall, Laverton, Taylor, Hayes; Harris. Sub: Kelly.
