Gloucester B 2-3 Bath by Holiday Man

Gloucester B returned from their Jersey Festival exertions in good spirits for a representative fixture against Bath.

With a pitch with little give in it and a hot sun bearing down on the them, both sides struggled to find any rhythm and chances were at premium. The only two moments of real quality were decisive in giving the hosts a one-nil lead at the break. Taylor made a surging run from near the half-way line and rifled his shot high into the back of the net to give the home side the lead. Keeper Cornwell then made a stunning save, diving high to his right to tip a goal bound round the post to maintain the advantage.

Half chances came and went as the second half got underway; both sides were crying out for someone to strike the ball with purpose and belief, Taylor duly obliging to give the ‘Yellows’ a two goal advantage.

Bath responded well however and capitalised on some hesitant defending to reduce the deficit through Kirk. The equaliser arrived soon after when Cornwell was unable to hold onto Kiely’s long range effort.

The keeper soon made amends though by turning another strike round the post, diving low to his right. With Bath now in the ascendency and dominating the play it was not too long before they completed the turnaround, Kirk finding the net to give the visitors victory by the odd goal in five.

Gloucester B: Cornwell; Campbell, Harding, Irvine, Arrowsmith, Flatt, Inyinbor, Easterbrook, Lock, Taylor, Cooper.
